Two new characters and slogans are awarded a high-coveted spot on our\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/advertisingweek.com\/event\/awnewyork2021-walkoffame\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" aria-label=\"madison avenue walk of fame, read on advertising week\">Madison Avenue Walk of Fame<\/a>\u00a0in 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The lineup of 2021\u2019s brand mascot nominees included beloved favorites, like BUSH\u2019S Beans Duke the Dog and the Green Giant. Former retired icons making waves for their 2021 comebacks, like Microsoft\u2019s Clippy and The Noid from Domino\u2019s, also received nominations. And fresh faces, like the Vineyard Vines\u2019 Smiling Whale and ARCO\u2019s Hanna, were inducted for the first time this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Slogan nominees similarly nodded to a changing, hybrid world amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, with nominated taglines ranging from those associated with pharmaceutical corporations to video-sharing social networking platforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Who won? We\u2019re eager to share the winners!<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Winning Mascots<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/popicon.life\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/limu_emu_doug_clippy.png\" alt=\"Liberty Mutual\u2019s LiMu Emu &amp; Doug and Microsoft\u2019s Clippy, links to pop icon site\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And the winners of the 2021 Madison Avenue Walk of Fame are\u2026 Liberty Mutual\u2019s LiMu Emu &#038; Doug and Microsoft\u2019s Clippy!<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>2021&rsquo;s Madison Avenue Walk of Fame Winners: Liberty Mutual&rsquo;s LiMu Emu &amp; Doug and Microsoft&rsquo;s Clippy!<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/popicon.life\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/169LM.jpg\" alt=\"Liberty Mutual\u2019s LiMu Emu links to pop icon\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Liberty Mutual first entered the brand mascot space in 2019. Their spokescharacters were\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/popicon.life\/limu-emu-doug-liberty-mutual-spokescharacters\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" aria-label=\"LiMu emu and doug, read on pop icon\">LiMu Emu &#038; Doug<\/a>, a twist on classic buddy cop duos. LiMu Emu &#038; Doug were on a mission to stop unsuspecting people from overpaying for insurance coverage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It has only been a few years since this duo made their debut, but they\u2019ve been hits with audiences since day one. Consumers are huge fans of these spokescharacters \u2014 so much so that they even dress up as the characters for Halloween! LiMu Emu &#038; Doug are also part of the pop culture lexicon, receiving shout outs on TV shows like\u00a0<em>Jeopardy!<\/em>\u00a0And\u00a0<em>Saturday Night Live<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/popicon.life\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/clippy.jpeg\" alt=\"Microsoft\u2019s Clippy! links to pop icon\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Clippy, officially named Clippit, is the enthusiastic\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/popicon.life\/microsoft-clippy-emoji\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" aria-label=\"paperclip assistant, read on pop icon site\">paperclip assistant<\/a>\u00a0in Microsoft\u2019s Office Suite. The character first debuted in Microsoft Office 97 and experienced an extreme amount of turbulence than your typical brand mascot. Many Microsoft Office users disliked Clippy and media outlets criticized the character\u2019s design. By 2007, Clippy was gone from Office 2007\u2019s suite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, underground Clippy fans refused to give up on the perky character. Clippy made a brief return in 2019 as a sticker for Microsoft Teams chat software. In 2021, Microsoft tweeted that if a photo of Clippy received 20k likes the company would replace the paperclip emoji in Microsoft 365 with a Clippy emoji. The tweet went viral and just like that, Clippy is rebooted \u2014 as an emoji! \u2014 for today\u2019s audiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/popicon.life\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/mawof_winners_2021.jpeg\" alt=\"Liberty Mutual\u2019s LiMu Emu &amp; Doug and Microsoft\u2019s Clippy, lego logo and USPS logo, links to pop icon site\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We love this combination of new spokescharacters and rebooted icons as this year\u2019s Madison Avenue Walk of Fame winners.
