McDonald\u2019s Australia (affectionately known as Macca\u2019s) has recently introduced <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcdonalds.com\/au\/en-au\/menu\/value-bundle-meals\/birdie-brekkie-meal.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Birdie\u2019s Brekkie Meal<\/a> to their breakfast menu for a limited time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-what-s-in-birdie-s-brekkie-meal\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What\u2019s In Birdie\u2019s Brekkie Meal?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/popicon.life\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/birdie_brekkie_meal_mcdonalds_3.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-23365\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The meal, which arrives nestled in an adorable handle box featuring Birdie\u2019s likeness, comes loaded with a trio of iconic Macca\u2019s eats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Take your pick of a McMuffin or Brekkie McWrap topped with Birdie\u2019s Brekkie Signature Pink Sauce (a savory tomato-infused mayonnaise), golden hash brown, and Birdie\u2019s Strawberry Shortcake Frappe topped with biscuit crumbs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/popicon.life\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/birdie_brekkie_meal_mcdonalds_4.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-23366\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This pretty in pink campaign comes courtesy of Wieden+Kennedy Sydney and the agency went all out to ensure Birdie is the star of the show. Birdie flies \u2018round town in an animation meets real world commercial and gives briefcases and smartphones a breakfast glow up while her own theme song plays in the background. (Look up the Spotify playlist \u201cBirdie\u2019s Brekkie Beats\u201d to listen in!)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-fun-facts-you-probably-don-t-know-about-birdie-the-early-bird\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Fun Facts You (Probably) Don\u2019t Know About Birdie the Early Bird<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We want to keep Birdie\u2019s playful vibes going strong, so we\u2019re sharing some of our favorite little-known trivia surrounding the McDonaldland mascot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-1-birdie-made-her-debut-in-1979\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>1. Birdie Made Her Debut in 1979<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rich Seidelman, former Leo Burnett art director and curator of the Meta account <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/FilmingInMcDonaldland\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Filming in McDonaldland<\/a>, said Birdie made her debut in 1979 to promote McDonald\u2019s breakfast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Just seven years later in 1986, Birdie was redesigned to introduce audiences to a softer and friendlier look. Her key characteristics stayed the same though. Birdie is a bright, perky early bird. She doesn\u2019t mind waking up before everyone else because it means she gets to enjoy her favorite meal of the day: breakfast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-2-birdie-loves-to-fly-but-struggles-with-landing\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>2. Birdie Loves to Fly, but Struggles with Landing<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This tidbit comes courtesy of the 1987 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/photo\/?fbid=2914806788584592&amp;set=a.2847504261981512\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cRonald McDonald and Friends Specification Manual\u201d<\/a> which was art directed by Seidelman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/popicon.life\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/birdie_brekkie_meal_mcdonalds_2.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-23364\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s not surprising to hear Birdie likes flying, but back then she had a tougher go with landing than most birds. The Birdie\u2019s Brekkie Meal commercial \u201cmay\u201d contain a subtle nod to this mention since the spot ends with Birdie rolling up against a massive frappe\u2026 but we could be reading too much into that!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What else does Birdie love besides flying? She\u2019s super active and participates in sports, dancing, and exercise. Keep these notes in the back pocket for future commercials, W+K Sydney!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-3-who-voiced-birdie\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>3. Who Voiced Birdie?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Birdie\u2019s voice in early McDonald\u2019s commercials was provided by voiceover actress <a href=\"https:\/\/popicon.life\/remembering-russi-taylor-as-mcdonalds-birdie-the-early-bird\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Russi Taylor<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Beyond Birdie, Taylor also voiced Minnie Mouse and several characters from The Simpsons including Bart Simpson\u2019s know-it-all classmate Martin Prince. Taylor passed away in July 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-4-birdie-s-mcdonaldland-arrival-happened-at-night\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>4. Birdie\u2019s McDonaldland Arrival Happened at Night<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You\u2019d think Ronald, Grimace, the Professor and the Hamburglar would have been introduced to Birdie in the morning since she\u2019s an early bird, right? Not quite. A 1986 McDonald\u2019s commercial establishes it was nighttime when <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/photo\/?fbid=1524896249638943&amp;set=a.1498405340224751\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Birdie first came to McDonaldland<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The commercial shows a huge pink box falling from the sky with a \u201copen me!\u201d tag. Inside the box is a massive egg, but the egg won\u2019t quite hatch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ronald suggests they give the egg some love and affection. Everyone builds a \u201cnest\u201d around the egg consisting of blankets and pillows to keep it warm through the night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It worked! The egg cracked a smile. As the night changed into day, Birdie hatched and was immediately welcomed and embraced into the McDonaldland character crew.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-5-birdie-starred-in-ads-for-the-mckids-clothing-line\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>5. Birdie Starred in Ads for the McKids Clothing Line<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Remember McKids, the clothing partnership McDonald\u2019s had with Sears in 1987?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This limited collection showcased brightly colored children\u2019s clothing in comfortable fabrics available at the retailer. A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=CVLa0ZmV0Eo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">McKids commercial<\/a> showing the McDonaldland characters stocking shelves and clothing racks with t-shirts, overalls, and matching kid\u2019s sets at midnight aired nationwide.
