Say it isn\u2019t so!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Aldi UK\u2019s adventurous brand mascot has a penchant for coming out on top when the odds are stacked against him. Kevin has survived cliffhangers, <a href=\"https:\/\/popicon.life\/kevin-the-carrot-survives-cliffhanger-defeats-parsnip-in-spectacular-aldi-uk-holiday-ads\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">defeated the villainous Pascal the Parsnip<\/a>, escaped angry Brussels sprouts just in time to <a href=\"https:\/\/popicon.life\/kevin-carrot-aldi-christmas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">host a Christmas Spectacular<\/a>, and has even <a href=\"https:\/\/popicon.life\/aldi-uks-kevin-the-carrot-christmas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">flown a carrot-sized<\/a> jet to make it home for Christmas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/popicon.life\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/ebanana_scrooge_aldi_uk-scaled.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-13787\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This year, however, it looks like carrots may no longer be part of the holiday menu. Aldi UK is teasing the start of a new tradition \u2014 and it\u2019s all about bananas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-ebanana-scrooge\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Ebanana Scrooge<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Why bananas? The Aldi UK\u2019s website declares that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aldi.co.uk\/kevin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">carrots are \u201cso last Christmas.\u201d<\/a> Better times with bananas are ahead with the website promising to feature delicious recipes made with bananas for the whole family to enjoy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s here that we get a sneak peek at Ebanana Scrooge. However, Ebanana\u2019s story is shaping up to be quite reminiscent of Ebenezer Scrooge.<\/p>\n\n\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Ebanana Scrooge\" width=\"1240\" height=\"698\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/QD2ALq1Aeac?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In this clip, we get a glimpse of Ebanana Scrooge anticipating meeting Santa Claus. He is paired with a tart treat on Christmas Eve and falls asleep with a smile on his face. Early that cold Christmas morning, Santa does arrive. But much to Ebanana\u2019s dismay, he chooses the tart over the banana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWhy didn\u2019t he take me?\u201d Ebanana cries as Santa leaves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As Ebanana sits up, his sadness quickly turns to anger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/popicon.life\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/ebanana_scrooge-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-13790\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI HATE Christmas!\u201d Ebanana fumes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Oh dear. It appears we are seeing the beginnings of a holiday disgruntlement story.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-the-holidays-without-carrots\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Holidays Without Carrots?!<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/popicon.life\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/kevin_carrot_retirement.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-13788\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now, Aldi UK\u2019s social media feeds are saturated with bananas and Ebanana Scrooge\u2019s likeness. A frowning Ebanana is on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/aldiuk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Instagram<\/a> while <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/AldiUK\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Facebook<\/a> pushes only banana recipes for the holidays \u2014 and certainly no carrots. And Ebanana is gleefully <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AldiUK\/status\/1457754892584505354\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">tweeting news about Kevin the Carrot\u2019s retirement<\/a> on Twitter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Will this truly be a holiday season without Kevin? I enjoy bananas as much as anyone else does, but I also like carrots just as much and think they deserve a place at the table too. Can\u2019t we have both?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Only time will tell if this year will be all about #EbananaScrooge or if Kevin will find a way to save the day!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Did Kevin the Carrot go into retirement before the 2021 holiday season?!
