The first lady of fruit is doing her part to emphasize how important it is for everyone to practice social distancing during COVID-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-where-is-miss-chiquita\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Where is Miss Chiquita?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On March 23, 2020, Chiquita tweeted an image of their company logo sans Miss Chiquita. The tweet read \u201cI\u2019m already home. Please do the same and protect yourself.\u201d It ends with a yellow heart emoji and the hashtag #stayhome.<\/p>\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I&#39;m already home. Please do the same and protect yourself. \ud83d\udc9b <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/hashtag\/stayhome?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#stayhome<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Ga9mlvjn6U\">pic.twitter.com\/Ga9mlvjn6U<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Chiquita (@Chiquita) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Chiquita\/status\/1242106360587849732?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 23, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.x.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Under any other circumstance, it would be unusual \u2014 bananas, really \u2014 to see Miss Chiquita exit packaging appearances. However, as the coronavirus continues to spread around the world, it\u2019s vital to see a mascot like Miss Chiquita advocating for following social distance rules.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not familiar with the term? <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hopkinsmedicine.org\/health\/conditions-and-diseases\/coronavirus\/coronavirus-social-distancing-and-self-quarantine\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Social distancing<\/a> means staying at least six feet away from other people. Being mindful to create that physical space helps stop or slow the spread of a disease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-why-it-matters-that-miss-chiquita-is-blazing-the-social-distance-trail\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Why It Matters That Miss Chiquita Is Blazing the Social Distance Trail<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For over 75 years, Miss Chiquita has been the <em>appeeling<\/em> face of Chiquita. The character debuted in 1944, wearing a hat filled with fruit and a skirt that swayed back and forth. She sang jingles about the delicious taste of bananas and also acted as a <a href=\"https:\/\/popicon.life\/celebrating-75-years-with-chiquitas-miss-chiquita\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">banana advocate<\/a>, sharing tips about how quickly a banana can ripen and where bananas can add delicious flavor. In 2019, Miss Chiquita was inducted into our <a href=\"https:\/\/popicon.life\/madison-avenue-walk-of-fame-winner-profiles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Advertising Week Madison Avenue Walk of Fame<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fresh produce, especially bananas, matters for healthy diets. Eating bananas is a great source of potassium for your body. If you didn\u2019t already know it, potassium is a mineral that is also an electrolyte. Getting enough potassium helps the rest of your body out with its essential functions including blood pressure, water balance, and digestive health. Miss Chiquita may be staying home, but she wants you to enjoy bananas from the comfort of your home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-let-s-practice-social-distancing\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Let&#8217;s Practice Social Distancing<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Will more brand mascots join Miss Chiquita in exiting their packaging and band together with their respective social distancing initiatives? We certainly hope so. Stay safe, stay home, and practice social distancing.
