The 2019 lineup includes brand mascots making parade appearances as balloons, balloonicles, and floats. Some balloons are new to this year\u2019s parade, while others are beloved fan favorites. Let\u2019s see which iconic characters will be taking flight!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/popicon.life\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/smokey_bear_macys.jpg\" alt=\"smokey_bear\" class=\"wp-image-11115\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-smokey-bear\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Smokey Bear<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Smokey Bear is back at the Macy\u2019s Thanksgiving Day Parade! The USDA Forest Service\u2019s wildfire icon last appeared at the parade in 1993. His return celebrates more than <a href=\"https:\/\/popicon.life\/smokey-bear-turns-75-why-the-wildfire-icon-matters-now-more-than-ever\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Smokey\u2019s 75th birthday<\/a>. Smokey\u2019s presence is a reminder that \u201cOnly YOU can prevent wildfires\u201d and that everyone can take personal responsibility in preventing wildfires.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Macys\/status\/1190676594186018816\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Smokey\u2019s giant balloon<\/a> is 51 feet tall, which is as high as a four-story building. 40 handlers will help keep Smokey floating high. No easy feat, if you consider Smokey is also 16 feet long and 25 feet wide!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/popicon.life\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/pillsbury_doughboy.jpg\" alt=\"pillsbury_doughboy\" class=\"wp-image-11113\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-pillsbury-doughboy\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Pillsbury Doughboy<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hoo hoo \u2014 our favorite helper to bakers everywhere is back! Millions of Americans enjoy Pillsbury staples, including crescent rolls, on Thanksgiving Day. Poppin\u2019 Fresh, the Pillsbury Doughboy, made his <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.generalmills.com\/2014\/11\/the-doughboy-rises-again\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">giant balloon debut<\/a> in 2009. Since then, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Pillsbury\/photos\/a.196251724562\/10156222354049563\/?type=3&amp;theater\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">his balloon<\/a> has giggled its way through the Macy\u2019s Parade route. 90 handlers will be hanging onto the Doughboy, who is larger-than-life at 46 feet tall (as high as a four-story building).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/popicon.life\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/ronald_mcdonald.png\" alt=\"ronald_mcdonald\" class=\"wp-image-11114\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-ronald-mcdonald\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Ronald McDonald<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We\u2019re not clowning around: this is Ronald McDonald\u2019s 18th appearance at the Macy\u2019s Thanksgiving Day Parade! The <a href=\"https:\/\/popicon.life\/which-characters-will-be-at-the-2018-macys-thanksgiving-day-parade\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">McDonald\u2019s Chief Happiness Officer<\/a> will have his giant balloon accompanied by the Big Red Shoe Car float. What\u2019s that shoe size again? It\u2019s a men\u2019s size 266 \u2014 one pretty big clown shoe to fill!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/popicon.life\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/dino_sinclair.jpg\" alt=\"dino_sinclair\" class=\"wp-image-11110\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-sinclair-s-dino\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Sinclair\u2019s Dino<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You could say Dino, the Apatosaurus representing Sinclair Oil Corporation, has been in the Macy\u2019s Parade since he hatched! He made his <a href=\"https:\/\/popicon.life\/7-dino-mite-facts-might-not-know-dino-sinclair-dinosaur\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">giant balloon debut<\/a> in 1963, just 33 years after the character\u2019s creation. The then-60-foot-tall balloon retired in 1977, and made a roaring comeback in 2015. Now, Dino floats high at 36-feet tall in the air. Three Baby Dinos will roam the Parade route on land in a balloonicle. (What\u2019s a balloonicle again? It\u2019s a hybrid cold air balloon with a self-propelled vehicle.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/popicon.life\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/aflac_duck.png\" alt=\"aflac_duck\" class=\"wp-image-11109\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-aflac-duck\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Aflac Duck<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is the Aflac spokesduck\u2019s ninth Macy\u2019s Parade appearance! The Aflac Duck first made his debut in the 2011 Macy\u2019s Parade. Originally, the Aflac Duck wore a green and red scarf. As part of his balloonicle, he rode a sled as he floated down the Parade route. Now, he wears a blue and white scarf with wings clasped around a glowing red heart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/popicon.life\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/green_giant-1.png\" alt=\"green_giant\" class=\"wp-image-11112\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-green-giant\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Green Giant<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Harvest in the Valley, the <a href=\"https:\/\/popicon.life\/every-brand-mascot-featured-2017-macys-thanksgiving-day-parade\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Green Giant\u2019s float<\/a>, made its Parade debut just two years ago in 2017. That makes it the youngest character float in our roundup!
