On Monday September 23, 2019, brand mascots celebrated Advertising Week\u2019s 16th Annual <a href=\"https:\/\/popicon.life\/madison-avenue-walk-of-fame-winner-profiles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Madison Avenue Walk of Fame<\/a> by inducting two beloved characters and iconic brand slogans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/popicon.life\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/ribbon_cutting_ceremony.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10941\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-meet-the-winning-mascots\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Meet The Winning Mascots!<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">2019\u2019s nominees included fresh faces and longtime favorites in the advertising industry. Our winners were the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oscarmayer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Oscar Mayer<\/a> Wienermobile and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncpc.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">National Crime Prevention Council\u2019s<\/a> McGruff the Crime Dog.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-oscar-mayer-wienermobile\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Oscar Mayer Wienermobile<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Oscar Mayer Wienermobile made its debut in 1936. Carl Mayer, nephew of the company\u2019s founder, is credited with the idea of a hot dog on wheels that could transport Oscar Mayer\u2019s spokesperson around the country. The very first Wienermobile was 13-feet long. Over the decades, the Wienermobile became longer, plumper, and more detailed inside and out. Today, six Wienermobiles criss-cross the nation and drivers that relish a new adventure can apply to become \u201cHotdogger\u201d drivers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-mcgruff-the-crime-dog\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>McGruff the Crime Dog<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">McGruff the Crime Dog was dreamed up at an airport by advertising creative Jack Keil for the Ad Council and NCPC. Americans have used his iconic catchphrase \u201cTake A Bite Out Of Crime!\u201d for nearly four decades through McGruff\u2019s crime prevention PSAs. McGruff is still taking bites out of crime at 39-years-old, with additional advocacy placed on cyberbullying, intellectual property theft, and gun safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/popicon.life\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/icons.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10943\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-mascots-ketch-up-with-the-wienermobile\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Mascots \u201cKetch Up\u201d With The Wienermobile!<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Oscar Mayer Wienermobile arrived to New York City driven by a team of enthusiastic \u201chotdoggers.\u201d Parked outside of AMC Lincoln Square, the site of #AWNewYork, the 27-foot-long frankfurter turned heads with attendees and mascots alike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/popicon.life\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/chiquita_genie_oscar_mayer.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10940\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Check out Miss Chiquita from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chiquita.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Chiquita Banana<\/a> and Genie from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.geniecompany.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Genie Company<\/a> sizzling photo with the icon!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-a-very-special-birthday-celebration\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A Very Special Birthday Celebration<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/popicon.life\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/chiquita_birthday.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10938\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Both Smokey Bear and Miss Chiquita celebrate their 75th anniversaries in 2019. As luck would have it, today happens to be Miss Chiquita\u2019s birthday! Our characters sang happy birthday to the beloved icon after the ribbon cutting ceremony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/popicon.life\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/chiquita_birthday_cake_2.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10942\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And yes, her delicious cake from Magnolia Bakery is banana flavored!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/popicon.life\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/dino_sinclair.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10939\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-mascot-proposal\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Mascot Proposal?!<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It looks like your esteemed PopIcon editor is becoming part of the oil dynasty! Dino, the Sinclair Dinosaur, dropped to one knee with a prehistoric proposal \u2014 the first at #AWNewYork!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/popicon.life\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/awnewyork.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10944\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-madison-avenue-walk-of-fame-s-slogan-winners\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Madison Avenue Walk of Fame\u2019s Slogan Winners<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to the mascots, two winning slogans were also inducted this year.
