With the next awards ceremony slated for September 25th, the Clios are embracing the golden age of advertising.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/popicon.life\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/clio_award_60.png\" alt=\"clio_award_60\" class=\"wp-image-10818\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Illustrator Sam Spratt has captured some of the ad world\u2019s most famous creatives, and their respective icons, in a new digital mural.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-who-s-who-creatives\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Who\u2019s Who: Creatives<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As one scrolls through the Renaissance era-inspired mural, they\u2019ll highlight various famous faces scattered throughout the image. Here\u2019s a look at the heavy hitters not to miss out on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-leo-burnett\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Leo Burnett<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/popicon.life\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/clio_award_60_2.png\" alt=\"clio_award_60_2\" class=\"wp-image-10819\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We wouldn\u2019t have characters like the Green Giant, Tony the Tiger, or the Pillsbury Doughboy if not for the creatives employed at Leo Burnett\u2019s ad agency. Famous for keeping a bowl of apples on his reception desk for visitors, Burnett was a master of the soft sell and reaching human emotion through advertising. His name still <a href=\"https:\/\/leoburnett.com\/articles\/culture\/burnett-breakfast-2012-when-to-take-my-name-off-the-door\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">remains on the agency\u2019s door<\/a>, long after his famous \u201cWhen to Take My Name Off the Door\u201d retirement speech delivered in 1967.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-mary-wells-lawrence\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Mary Wells Lawrence<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/popicon.life\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/clio_award_60_3.png\" alt=\"clio_award_60_3\" class=\"wp-image-10820\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cThat\u2019s all she said, one word. \u2018Nifty.\u2019 To me, however, it was like fireworks had erupted over Madison Avenue. Mary liked my work.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This quote, pulled from advertising creative Howie Cohen\u2019s book \u201cI Can&#8217;t Believe I <s>Ate<\/s> Lived The Whole Thing,\u201d sums up the first impression of Mary Wells Lawrence, founding president of ad agency Wells, Rich, Greene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, contrary to what is printed in the image of Wells, she did not personally coin the Alka-Seltzer tagline \u201cI Can\u2019t Believe I Ate The Whole Thing.\u201d The credits actually go towards Cohen and his creative associate Bob Pasqualina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-rich-silverstein\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Rich Silverstein<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/popicon.life\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/clio_award_60_4.png\" alt=\"clio_award_60_4\" class=\"wp-image-10821\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Got Milk? The ad world owes Silverstein, and his <a href=\"https:\/\/goodbysilverstein.com\/work\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Goodby Silverstein &amp; Partners<\/a> co-founder Jeff Goodby, endless gratitude for creating one of the most iconic catchphrases in decades for the California Milk Processor Board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-linda-kaplan-thaler\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Linda Kaplan Thaler<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/popicon.life\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/clio_award_60_5.png\" alt=\"clio_award_60_5\" class=\"wp-image-10822\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We were lucky to have Linda join us last year at #AWNewYork where we celebrated our 15th anniversary. As President of Kaplan Thaler Productions, Linda has long played a pivotal role in the ad industry. She wrote the \u201cI Don\u2019t Wanna Grow Up\u201d Toys \u201cR\u201d Us jingle, created the Aflac Duck, and created a 2018 campaign called Two Chill Eggs for Extend Fertility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-who-s-who-icons\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Who\u2019s Who: Icons<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Much like the creatives, there\u2019s an absolute sea of icons featured throughout this mural. Many even take forms different from their usual designs, so let\u2019s see how many we can find\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-ronald-mcdonald\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Ronald McDonald<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/popicon.life\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/clio_award_60_6.png\" alt=\"clio_award_60_6\" class=\"wp-image-10823\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Doing his best impression of Michelangelo\u2019s David statue, the McDonald\u2019s icon loves to see you smile. We only wish we could see if he\u2019s wearing his big red clown shoes!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-the-kool-aid-man\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Kool-Aid Man<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/popicon.life\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/clio_award_60-7.png\" alt=\"clio_award_60-7\" class=\"wp-image-10828\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I mean, can you imagine Kool Aid\u2019s The Kool-Aid Man making an appearance in a mural that didn\u2019t involve busting through a building? Oh yeah!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-m-amp-m-s\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>M&amp;M&#8217;S<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/popicon.life\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/clio_award_60-8.png\" alt=\"clio_award_60-8\" width=\"817\" height=\"463\"><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Friends, Romans, countrymen, ad men, mad men, lend me your ears. That\u2019s Red from M&amp;M\u2019S doing his best Julius Caesar impression. Other M&amp;M\u2019S characters, like Yellow, are also included in this mural.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-the-burger-king\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Burger King<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/popicon.life\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/clio_award_60_9.png\" alt=\"clio_award_60_9\" class=\"wp-image-10824\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yet another statue, but the Burger King icon could always use more bling in his look.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-the-most-interesting-man-in-the-world\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Most Interesting Man In The World<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/popicon.life\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/clio_award_60_10.png\" alt=\"clio_award_60_10\" class=\"wp-image-10825\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Dos Equis icon doesn\u2019t always pose for murals, but when he does he likes to be at the bar \u2014 and right next to Mary Wells Lawrence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-geico-gecko\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>GEICO Gecko<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/popicon.life\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/clio_award_60_11.png\" alt=\"clio_award_60_11\" class=\"wp-image-10826\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Blink and you might just miss The Most Interesting Man In The World\u2019s unlikely barmate, the highly refined, green Gecko for GEICO\u2019s insurance company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-budweiser-frogs\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Budweiser Frogs<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/popicon.life\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/clio_award_60_12.png\" alt=\"clio_award_60_12\" class=\"wp-image-10827\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bud. Weis. Er.
