You might be familiar with his larger-than-life appearance at football stadiums or his side gig <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/lifestyle\/relationships\/hellman-s-mayonnaise-wedding-c780bc00\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">officiating weddings<\/a>. You might even have thought to get ahead of us while reading this and scroll for facts from Manny\u2019s \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hellmanns.com\/us\/en\/inspiration\/manny-mayo.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Stat Card<\/a>\u201d on the Hellmann\u2019s website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But even the Stat Card doesn\u2019t explain the significance behind why this specific jar of mayonnaise weighs 1,913 pounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/popicon.life\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/manny_mayo.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After chatting about all things Manny Mayo with Jessica Grigoriou, Senior Vice President of Marketing, Condiments at Unilever North America, we decided to share some of our favorite fun facts you didn\u2019t know about this deli-friendly icon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Let\u2019s see how much you really know about Manny!<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>1. Manny Mayo Made His Debut in September 2024<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Manny\u2019s rookie debut occurred during the September 2024 football season. Grigoriou told PopIcon Hellmann\u2019s wanted to increase its brand presence within football and have a mascot of their own. Just as football teams have mascots to rally their own fans!<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DAl-N6TPTnK<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His introduction was a huge success. Grigoriou said he joined Hellmann\u2019s pop-up college football tailgating events and went on a cross-country tour where he spread game day cheer and the love of mayonnaise to fans of underdog teams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You know you\u2019ve made waves when the <a href=\"https:\/\/touchdownwire.usatoday.com\/story\/sports\/nfl\/touchdown\/2024\/09\/24\/will-manny-mayo-be-nfls-answer-to-pop-tarts-bowl-mascot\/75365580007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">USA TODAY<\/a> is mulling over how Manny\u2019s overnight success might rival that of the <a href=\"https:\/\/popicon.life\/pop-tarts-edible-mascot-2023-pop-tarts-bowl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pop-Tarts Bowl edible mascot<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>2. &ldquo;Manny Mayo&rdquo; Is a Nickname<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Who coined Manny Mayo\u2019s name? This is a two-part answer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/popicon.life\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/2024_Hellmanns_CoversTheSpread_Jaguars_StreetTeam_5776x3249_1_BELB_NA_LookForUs_EN_Socl_NA-3-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The first part derives from Hell<em>mann<\/em>\u2019s Mayonnaise \u2014 which some fans might have been able to guess on their own. What\u2019s more surprising is how much of the mascot\u2019s name was crowdsourced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe sourced name suggestions from fans at tailgating events and there were several submissions for \u2018Manny\u2019 so \u2018Manny Mayo\u2019 was born!\u201d said Grigoriou.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>3. PR Agency Edelman Helped Create Manny Mayo<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DE5goZIpXjT<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Great agencies are behind the creation of many iconic brand mascots and Edelman is credited with helping create Manny Mayo. The agency also recruited <a href=\"https:\/\/www.costumers.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pierre\u2019s Mascots and Costumes<\/a> to bring Manny\u2019s costumed look to life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>4. There&rsquo;s a Good Reason Why Manny&rsquo;s Smiling<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the biggest reasons fans immediately connect with Manny has to do with the mascot\u2019s friendly eyes and wide grin. Because a jar of mayo doesn\u2019t come with a built-in personality, Grigoriou said one of the biggest challenges was creating warmth and relatability in Manny while staying true to the brand\u2019s heritage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DFONyf5scKg<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This challenge was resolved by carefully crafting details, like Manny\u2019s eyes and mouth, so they would feel inviting and expressive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>5. The Hellmann&rsquo;s Jar Was an Important Part of Manny&rsquo;s Design<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We can\u2019t imagine Manny Mayo without the signature Hellmann\u2019s jar! While it\u2019s not exactly easy to make a wearable jar, Grigoriou told PopIcon it had to be a part of Manny\u2019s look.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DNL0NWyiMpO<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cManny is proudly 54 inches long x 33 inches wide x 33 inches tall and 38 pounds,\u201d she said. \u201cWhile he can\u2019t fit through most doorways and can\u2019t touch his two hands together, he can walk, cheer on athletes, and make a mean Buffalo Chicken Dip.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>6. Does Manny Mayo Really Weigh 1,913 Pounds?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ha! Not quite. The mascot\u2019s full costumed look totals at 38 pounds, but the Hellmann\u2019s website has him down at 1,913 pounds. This is a nod to the year Hellmann\u2019s was founded: 1913.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>7. Is Manny Mayo Really 7&rsquo;1&rdquo;?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DGYcJBYsFno<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yes, and Grigoriou can vouch for his actual height. She told us Manny Mayo\u2019s height is based on his costume, which stands at around seven feet tall when worn. (The Green Giant may have more competition than he realizes!)<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>8. Yes, Manny Mayo Has Officiated a Wedding Ceremony<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/popicon.life\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/20250721_Hellmanns_MikeKirschbaum_16x9_MKR11537.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He even makes sure there\u2019s plenty of chicken tenders and Hellmann\u2019s dips during the reception.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hellmann\u2019s launched a nationwide search during summer 2025 to find a real couple to wed with Manny Mayo as their officiant to celebrate the perfect union of chicken tenders and Hellmann\u2019s new Chicken Tender Dips. The winning couple, known under the alias of \u201cThe Sauceman\u2019s,\u201d won after sharing a video of their condiment Christmas tree complete with a Hellmann\u2019s Mayonnaise ornament and proposal which used a sauce ramekin as a ring box.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/popicon.life\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/20250721_Hellmanns_MikeKirschbaum_16x9_MKR10146.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They were married on July 21 at the Viva Las Vegas Chapel by the one and only Manny Mayo.
