What do you see when you look at the emblem for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games? You might see a brightly burning flame, the outline of a woman’s face, or perhaps both.

The official emblem for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games is made up of three powerful symbols connected to sport, the Games, and France.

For the first time, the emblem will be the same for the Olympic and Paralympic Games. (Differentiated only by the Olympic rings or Paralympic agitos.) The union of its three symbols — the gold medal, the Olympic and Paralympic flames and Marianne, the national personification of the French Republic — are visible in the face of the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The Gold Medal

The gold medal is described as unchanging like determination, dazzling like talent and eternal like victory. It symbolizes achievement and the examples set by the Olympic and Paralympic athletes.

The gold medal isn’t just for champions either. These athletes demonstrate everyone has a chance to win when excelling in their sport and improving their personal bests.

The Olympic and Paralympic Flames

The Olympic and Paralympic flame brings people together through the values of sport. These values move beyond borders, nations and generations. This flame burns bright inside the world’s greatest athletes.

While there are many interpretations that come with the flame’s image, it symbolizes the unique energy of the Games. Players and spectators alike are encouraged to be bold and share in this energy together.

Marianne, the national personification of the French Republic, is a familiar face to the French.

It is in Marianne that we find all the same characteristics represented in sport and in the Olympics and the Paralympics. Her French spirit reveals an ambition to be egalitarian, sharing, and generous.

Marianne’s face places humans at the heart of the games. She upholds the imperative for everyone to be creative and advance forward.

The mascot for the 2024 Summer Olympics will be unveiled in late 2022.
