  • Coyote is the San Antonio Spurs’ official mascot. He made his first-ever appearance at a Spurs game on April 13, 1983.
  • For 21 years, author Tim Derk performed in the role of the Coyote. He created both the Coyote concept and invented the T-Shirt Cannon. Derk appeared in 1,110 games and averaged 200 yearly community appearances.
  • Some of Coyote’s best-known skits and antics over the years include dance numbers with the Spurs’ Silver Dancers, pulling his eyes off, riding a unicycle, spinning a ball on a pen, and dribbling a ball with his feet.
  • In 1991, Coyote married Mrs. Coyote. Little is known about their relationship.
  • Each year, Coyote makes over 400 appearances in the San Antonio community.
  • Coyote has been voted NBA Mascot of the Year twice: once in 2014 and again in 2020.
