Hear from Steve Parish and Mark Bright as they discuss the development of Crystal Palace Football Club (CPFC) U23 Academy, and how wellbeing is at the heart of it.
The CPFC Academy launched in October 2021 and is the culmination of Steve Parish’s long-term plan to invest in and capitalise on south London’s hotbed of talent, replacing portacabins with state-of-the-art facilities in an elite Category 1 Academy, which will become an important community resource. In this session, Steve talks to Suki about his legacy and why the all-round development of young players is at the heart of the vision for the Academy.
The redevelopment includes classrooms, a lecture room, analysis and meeting rooms, a gymnasium, restaurant and kitchen. Tutors and psychologists will be on site to ensure that young players receive the best education and welfare provision. Mark Bright, a former player at CPFC and current Loans Manager and Head of U23 Development explains why focussing on the wellbeing of players is as important as improving their skills and performance and how they help their players deal with the impact of media attention throughout their careers.
